Elliott BROOD

Schooners Pub (in the Legion)
Doors open at 8pm
Tickets available Aug 28th from Valhalla Pure Outfitters or downtown at MadHatter Roastery and Lucky Squid Tattoos, also on campus at the MHC Students Association

Holy Rollers! They're back! Fresh off their 2013 Juno Win for best Roots And Traditional Album of the Year, Elliott BROOD returns to Medicine Hat.
But this show is anything but "traditional."After last year's sold out pots and pans hammer fest, fans can surely expect them to blow the barn doors off the Legion again. With their growly vocals, heavy drum beats and stylish blues guitars this, as always, will be one show you do not want to miss!
Also featuring our own Homegrown delight, Taking August. This melodic yet brassy young duet will make the perfect opener for E.B. as they deliver that same back home soul sweetener with a kick of hot sauce on the side. You'll surely want to hear their takes on classics and even some new tunes that they've reworked as the pair are quickly becoming a big fish in this small pond.
Be sure to get your hands on some tickets early, because we do anticipate another sold out show from one of our favorite groups.

Producing catchy music with a straight-out-of-the-garage energy, the boys from Charlottetown know how to pack the dance floor.
Rah Rah are no strangers to catchy indie rock either. The Regina sextet is touring with their 3rd and most accomplished album "The Poet's Dead." Onstage, their musical talent will impress, swapping positions and instruments multiple times in a show, in a display of literal musical chairs.

A new season
Thanks to everyone who came out Monday to see the ever entertaining BA Johnston. After the success of last year, it seemed appropriate to kick off another year of great live music by having BA snot-rocket us into this new season.
We have some AMAZING bands lined up for this spring and summer and hope you can make it out to all of the shows. 3rd street effort is under new management but remains a not for profit group of volunteers, focused on bringing stellar Canadian Indie music to Medicine Hat. So support the effort, come to the shows, like us on facebook, tell your friends and drop us a line if you have ideas or want to help out... we're always open to suggestions.
We'll be announcing the next show soon... Two acclaimed Canadian acts will be rocking Schooner's for your enjoyment, and we can't wait!

The Pack A.D.
Friday October 5, 2012
Schooners Pub (in the Legion)
Doors open at 8pm
Tickets available at Madhatter Roastery and online at www.primeboxoffice.com
$15 in advance - $20 at the door
Tighten your bootstraps 'cause this rock show's gonna blow your socks off!
We all know that tremendously skilled rock duos are the flavour de jour; there’s something refreshingly simple about the face melting, ear bleeding power generated by only two performers playing their hardest. Enter The Pack A.D.
This Vancouver-based, all girl power duo has risen in standing to make top-15 “tag teams to see” lists alongside The White Stripes, Black Keys and the Kills, selling out shows across Canada. Comprised of drummer Maya Miller and guitarist/vocalist Becky Black, we’re bringing the Pack A.D’s unique, belligerent mash of blues, punk, and garage rock to the Hat on October 5th at Schooner’s Pub (a rock show at the legion? Yes, please).
The Pack A.D’s third and latest album title Unpersons hints unmistakeably at something fierce, something feminist and something guaranteed to leave you yelling “I can’t hear you!” at your friends in the cab ride home after the show. You can thank us when our ears stop ringing.

Elliott BROOD
Thursday, June 28th
Schooners Pub (in the Medicine Hat Legion)
Doors open at 8:00pm
Tickets $15 in advance (available at Madhatter Roastery, Downtown)
$20 at the door
This one may SELL OUT so don't rely on availability at the door... get em while you can! From out of town? Call 403-866-6051
Marking a 3rd street effort milestone, Elliott BROOD is the reason we began booking and promoting independent Canadian artists in Medicine Hat. The Alt Rock/Country trio, often described as "Death Country" is touring following the release of their latest album, "Days Into Years,"and we're overjoyed to have them.
The Toronto-based band includes no one by the name of Elliott. The Brood, only a shadowy figure constructed out of vocalist/guitarist/ukulele and banjo-picker Mark Sasso, guitarist/vocalist/ukulele-picker Casey LaForet and drummer Steve Pitkin, has a way of sounding like a ghost from the past while remaining firmly rooted in the modern times. It’s like a traveller, part preacher/part snake-oil salesman, who has rolled his covered wagon right out of the 19th century and parked it in the 21st.
Their third full length release of roof-raising rhythm stomp and mandolin collides with luscious harmonies, piano and, for the first time, electric guitar, that is admittedly "loud, heavy and rock n' roll". Crowd participation is all part of the infectious excitement of an Elliott BROOD performance, clapping, stomping and sometimes clanging along with wooden spoons and pans distributed by the band.
